jeffdeoranut Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 after getting ready to use it the first time. will be spraying it thru the preval sprayer24 hrs drying will it be durable...in other words can it be handled without leaving prints or dulling the gloss?
Snake45 Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Future should be dry/cured/handleable after 24 hours. It will be glossy, but if there's high humidity, it can dry milky or cloudy. But it will not tolerate ANY alcohol or ammonia (such as window cleaner) at all.I'd advise practicing on something you don't care about before spraying it on something you do. It handles a bit different from most paints. When you think you've got enough laid on, you actually have WAY too much. Go slow and light. The upside to the stuff is that it can be removed instantly with rubbing alcohol or ammonia.Frankly, after a couple decades of playing with the stuff, mainly on model airplanes, I've moved on to other products for clear-coating cars. Still use it sometimes for glossing decal areas on flat-painted model airplanes, though.

Jim N Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I have been using Future for about 20 years and it is my "go to" for a gloss coat. I put it on using a medium flow setting on the airbrush and then quickly sweep the airbrush over the model at a distance of about 6 inches. Future is thin and will run, which is why you don't want the airbrush staying in one place for very long. When I have all of the panels covered, I let it sit for about 15 - 20 minutes and apply another coat. I will usually apply 4 - 5 coats. The thing that I like about using Future is that I can "read" the finish and adjust how I am applying it. If it is drying and the finish looks like real small pebbles, I am spraying too lightly or too far away. If it is drying in larger blobs, I am applying it too heavily. The good thing is that Future is self leveling to a degree and you can usually smooth out these problems with the additional coats.
