Greg Myers Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Is there anything that would make the old AMT '40 Ford chassis a little better ?Getting away from the steel wheel wires, molded in single exhaust, etc. ?
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 (edited) One way is to remove everything except the frame rails, and use other suspension bits. Another obvious solution is the Revell '40 chassis. It fits the AMT body very well. The Revell chassis is a vast improvement. The Revell '37 chassis is another option (Ford used the basic chassis from '35 through '40...'41 on the pickup), though the '37 chassis is 1/24, so it takes a little massaging. DumpyDan Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Years ago if I remember correctly there was an write up in a model mag, I think they used a for pickup I am thinking a Ford courier or the Revell 56 Ford pickup. Don't quote me.
Mike999 Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I'll quote you anyway. :-) I remember that about the Ford Courier too, many years ago in the Other Magazine. It was discussed about a week ago, in this thread. Tom Geiger said the Dodge D50 chassis will also drop right under the 40 Ford:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/125381-amt-ford-courier-pickup-any-good/#comment-1819087

Thanks Michael
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 How about the Amt wagon rod chassis?
oldnslow Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) I used the chassis under the lindberg 37 ford kit , they're cheap at Ollie's , Edited September 18, 2017 by oldnslow
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I used the chassis under the lindberg 37 ford kit , they're cheap at Ollie's , That chassis is from the momogram 37 ford convertible. The lindberg kits have a corvette front and rear. Both are good choices.
1930fordpickup Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 What about the Revell 37 Ford truck?
