Brett Barrow Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 (edited) Games Workshop recently came out with a new edition of Warhammer 40k, and with it a new starter set called Dark Imperium. I've been asked by my shop to paint up their store sample set for use in demo games. I've got about 1/4 of the set done, there's around 60 figures total. Apologies for the difference in picture quality, some were done in a light box, others in the shop display, others were workbench pics. I'll round them all up when done and take good pictures. Shafter44 Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Beautiful work I wish had those kinds of skill in heroic scale. I can almost see those space smurfs getting Nurgled.
Dragline Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Awesomeness. I love painting that stuff. I have a Flamspyre Phoenix I'm working on.
crazyjim Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 What do the figures look like before you start on them?
Brett Barrow Posted October 23, 2017 Author Posted October 23, 2017 Thanks, everybody! I'm still pretty new at this sort of modeling, but my years of building "normal" models have really helped. Plus there's s ton of good how-to videos and blog posts on these. What do the figures look like before you start on them? Plain grey plastic. The base is smooth, I've added rocks and sand and painted it. Latest one, I think this is the first one where it really clicked. I'm really proud of this one
crazyjim Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Those guys are pretty small. Wonderful pianting.
misterNNL Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Their armour looks cumbersome and head gear has minimal visibility.Maybe they are supposed to scare their enemys into submission.
