I believe both those kids were victims of stylists wielding cans of Gillette's The Dry Look men's hairspray (remember that slogan "The wet head is dead"?).

Yea I do remember those "The wet head is dead" ads. ("Long live the dry look, by Gillette.") I'm just having fun over analyzing the ads. By the way..... the kid in the Notox ad. Notice his eyes? I think they had him sniffing regular model glue before shooting that picture. He's high as kite! That's why he forgot to put in his windshield (and yes Snake, I understand the real reason the glass is not there), and now is in process pouring Notox all over the front of his engine. With most of the glue falling through the model, on to his (new) bedroom carpet. Now his parents are going to forbid him from ever building plastic models ever again.

As Art Fern (the late, great Johnny Carson) would have said, "Not exactly a sale point, Matinee Lady!"B)

Here another one. This time Hawk. Plus a fun Cap's Hobby Center carton. I've been wondering why that dog we had for a short time in the early 60's disappeared. Yet it disappeared just before I started building models.

Between the fourth and fifth panel they left out the image of the dog chewing up the model... And the kats at AMT probably had something to say about the mascot in the ad.
