Bucky Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 I helped a friend with his race car back in the late 80's. He loved dirt track racing! I used an AMT '72 Chevelle kit. I replaced the fenders on the driver's side with heavy foil. The roll cage and hood scoop are scratchbuilt. The dirt track tires are aftermarket pieces. Weathered with the Rustall system. Thanks for peekin' at this one!
Belugawrx Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 After a busy Saturday night... Looks the part for sure, Cheers
Bucky Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Thanks, guys! I had a lot of fun building this one!
DustyMojave Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Dirt track racers like to get it sideways. You've done pretty much what I plan for my 1970 Chevelle build. I have 2, an AMT and a Monogram. Not sure yet which I will build this way. The other will be a pavement racer.
Bucky Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Looking forward to seeing those, Richard!
DustyMojave Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 They're actually a ways down the build list. Quite a few ahead of them. So it will be a while. I have like 1,200 unbuilt kits in boxes to work on. And not much space allowed by the wife for the finished ones.
Bucky Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 I have a similar situation at the House of Bucky!!
bbowser Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Very realistic damage and weathering! Great model.
Bucky Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 Thanks for all the great comments! I had a blast building this one, as it brought back memories of going home on Saturday night with red dirt in my hair!! I just now saw another great dirt track Chevelle build on this site, and it reminded me of some older Chevelles that ran the track where we raced.
