Hi. I’m going to try to build a replica of my Grandad’s ‘56 Chevy 210 sedan. It was an Australian delivered 6 cylinder, 4 door sedan. I’m using a Revell Chevy Del Ray as a start. It may be beyond my abilities but you don’t get better by not trying new stuff.

As you can see, I need tips on scribing the new door lines.

I remember your post asking questions about the color. Nice that you're going ahead with this conversion. Your reference material for measurements is perfect.  Are you going to paint it like the photo or do a tutone treatment with the bottom matching the roof ??

Hi Espo, I ended up getting the colour matched so I’m going to paint it like the picture. I have a loooong way to go before the body is ‘right’ I’m struggling with the new door lines. I got the reference pics from a member in the paint thread (thanks SfanGogh!)

This looks like an interesting project! In real life I'm not so interested in four door models (Just turned 1:1 '62 Chevy II from 4D into 2D Sedan :P), but these are very interesting as scale models! So I'll be watching this one.

For the panel lines I've found out that "Dymo Tape" is excellent stuff. It's so strong that you can easily push your scriber against the tape and it will not fail. As a result it gives you a perfectly straight line, or of course you can cut the tape in whatever shape you want... If there's a curve in the panel line, cut a similar curve into the tape before applying it to the model and then just scribe the new panel line using the tape as a "quide". That way I redid panel lines for Monogram's "BadMan" kit where the original ones were competely disappeared in some spots... I used Trumpeter's Panel Line Scriber for that job but I bet there are other good tools for the scribing itself too.

I like that Dymo idea!

A bit late...

I'll be interested in how you make it a right hand hooker.

Argh your killing me lol, I should have looked it up! Having said that, I’m having fun doing this one, but thanks for the link! I guess if I totally destroy mine I’ve got that option to fall back on.

I've used Dymo tape and like it.  X-acto 11 blades with just a bit of the tip broken off make a good scribing tool for straight lines.
