I would suggest one with a ball type end, as mine digs into my palm when drilling for a while, which is not ideal. I don't even recall where I purchased mine, but they are easy to find online. Here's one that looks comfortable to use....*edit* so I just bought it and will LYK how well it works: Send me a link please

HDDan Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 I was able to get a shot of the color from the inside of the lid
Casey Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 That's a nice metallic blue. Make sure you prime all the body parts white before you spray the blue, or you'll lose some of the "pop".

LoL. I used to work for a custom shop here in California doing paint and fabrication. Where I need to get better is the engine details. This being project #4 I'm still sponging this forum for information.
HDDan Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Roof shot in clear. A little sunshine for all of you guys dealing with winter weather
HDDan Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 Been a bit slow this week but I have managed to make some progress.
HDDan Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 Just got done with the color sanding and polishing.
Mercuryman54 Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Looks very good!! It's going to be sharp when you get done! Dennis
modelfink Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 (edited) Nice paint! Did you wet sand before clear coating? Edited February 9, 2018 by modelfink

Every layer was sanded. Plastic, primer, color and clear. With 800-2000 then polished with McGuire's then rubbed with show car glaze
GlennS Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 That dark blue is real nice, polished up beautifully !
horsepower Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Really looking good, and I like the "walnut" steering wheel. The only thing I might have done was some carpet on the floor, a lot of guys only use flock and swear by it, but after seeing a few guys on here that are using embossing powder I tried it and it works out really well. Especially when I discovered that you can use any color you want and put a couple of light coats of the color you want the carpet to be over the powder and it still has a carpet look without having a fuzzy texture that you sometimes end up with when using flock. And I can buy embossing powder in the color Michael's has on clearance for $1.99 and don't have to hunt around for the right shade and color of flocking. You're going to have to do a tutorial on how you do your paint work, it shows that you're a painter by trade.
Casey Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Well, this is coming along nicely. That paint work, tho...
HDDan Posted February 15, 2018 Author Posted February 15, 2018 I've never done carpet before. Maybe I'll try it in my next project. It's going to be a convertible so it can be seen. As far doing a tutorial on paint..... I will have to wait until I do another darker color paint job it's easier to show the things that need to be seen
modelfink Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Very nice build. Your paint looks awesome. However, the brake backing plates look like they are not connected to the wheel

The wheels and tires that came with this kit are now on a 1950 Chevy pickup and the ones that you see here are off of a stock 1949 ford coupe. I guess I should probably do something about it....

If it's not too late, the brake backing plats can be set flush to the back of the inner wheels
