goldfinger Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Found this in a 1959 Mechanix Illustrated. I will be posting others as I scan them.
NYLIBUD Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Dam,what scale are those cars.Need a magnifying glass to see any sort of details.
Foxer Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 looks like HO, possibly N. I can't imagine fumbling with those today, never mind even seeing them!
Snake45 Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 23 minutes ago, Foxer said: looks like HO, possibly N. I can't imagine fumbling with those today, never mind even seeing them! Much smaller than HO. I've got some ROCO HO scale minitanks and trucks that would dwarf those nanomodels.
SSNJim Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 My guess is Z scale (1/220) or thereabouts, much smaller than N. A 20ft car in Z scale would be about an inch long, and an adult male (in other words, my) index finger is about 3 inches. I think Z scale is pretty popular in Europe. Wikipedia says Z scale was created in 1972, which is much later than the article. I'm sure 1/220 was around then, though.
High octane Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 I have one hangin' on my bulletin board that's only 1/2" long and 3/16th" wide in a plastic bag.
Russell C Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Such things can be done, it basically requires good magnifiers. Fished out my Mack cabover from its film canister garage for this pic - see my older Under Glass thread for it here. Somewhere in the range of 1:250 and 1:275, about 1 7/8" long.
