After building GM subjects all year I felt it was time to do another Mopar. This will be my first attempt at adding a vinyl top, I never much cared for having a fabric that traps moisture on my roof, but the '68-'70 Chargers looked oh so right when equipped with the vinyl. Besides, this one will be the test "mule" for when I replicate the '68 I drove in high school later on. I added Evergreen strips for the sail panel trim and for the "seams" on the vinyl. I'm still deciding on what color to paint it, I have a little time as it's just to humid here right now to paint anything.

Great looking engine Bill! I think Revell kits the best 440 out there in this series.

I just picked up this kit the other day and my only beef is I wish Revell would have included ALL the engine parts for those of us that want a street Hemi! ;)

Other than that the kit is perfect!

Yeah, Chargers are about the only muscle car I can think of that looks good with a vinyl roof. It's too bad Chrysler didn't see fit to incorporate more of the '68-'70 styling cues into the current Charger. B)

looking great, i love the paint choice

few quick questions though, ive actually been thinking of buying this kit for a side project

how are the extra parts? any roll cage sections, drag tires or anything?

Giving a quick glance at the instruction sheet 'cuz my kits still bag sealed until I build it--------there is a roll bar with a molded in extinguisher, as well as beefy rear drag tires.

I see no roll cage per se.........but one would should be easy to scratch build. B)

You'll love the kit though as the body is dead on accurate for a '68!

Yes Bill, I agree with you about the Hemi, all that's missing is the correct aircleaner and stock exhaust headers. They even have the HEMI badge decal included on the decal sheet that goes on the doors. The kit has the Dana 60 axle that would be behind a Hemi, My thoughts are that a 440 would have a Mopar 8 3/4 rear. The only thing you would have to add is the torque boxes for the rear leaf spring mounts. I have 3 of these kits, I'm going to probably grab more when run across them!

diymirage, any reputable hobby shop should carry Evergreen or Plastruct styrene, it comes in strips, half round, rods and sheets in various sizes.

This is turning out to be a very nice build, I am currently working on one myself, haven't had too much time lately to dedicate to the progresss but it's good to see that someone else is, I think it's a great kit myself. Good luck w/ yours!!! :(

Thanks Marcos! And good luck with yours, do post progress when you can! Judging from your past builds, I'm sure yours will be drop dead gorgeous! :(

Parts-swap the rear axles with either the Revell '67 GTX or '67 Coronet R/T, which have the standard Mopar banjo. Both kits are Hemi cars, which would normally have the Dana 60. You could also use the street Hemi air cleaner and exhausts from either kit on the Charger, which is what I've done with mine. Minor adjustments needed to get the exhaust manifolds to mate up with the pipes, but that's about it.

I did that years ago Larry when I built my '69 Daytona.......I just hate breaking up kits just to get a few parts to make a certain version.

I guess I could swap the 440 into the '67, but I'm not sure the 440 was out for '67? I was a bit too young to remember the car when new.

 Guy's ALL 440's and Hemi's came with the Dana Rear ends. The Revell kits were wrong to put 83/4 rears in the Hemi kits. They WEREN'T even an option! This was told to me by a good freind who used to work at the Chrysler plant here in Deeeetroit. The old Chrysler Main if I'm not mistaken, Right where MY plant is now built, Det/Hamtramck Cadillac Ass. Div.!

 I stand corrected! Just talked to Bob, (My buddy from Chrysler) an he used to instal the rears into the cars on the line. He says, All HI-Perf engines came with Danas. Monacos an Newports with 440's came with 8 3/4 rears. If you ordered a B-Body, with a Hi-Perf Engine (440 Commando, Hemi,TnT Magnum, etc.) W 4spd, or TourqueFlite, you AUTOMATICALLY got a Dana, NO exceptions!

 Bill, other than that ugly little Cimmeron thingie, When have you EVER seen a REAL Caddy what din't have a BIG A$$? :D We had a WHOLE PLANT full of 'em!!!!

Bill, 67 was the first year for the 440. I've seen dead nuts accurate 67 GTX "Super Commando" 440s at car shows. The swap would be accurate.

Just completed the interior today, seats and door panels painted with Krylon semi gloss black, carpet, dash top and rear shelf painted Testors flat black, dash and console painted with Tamiya semi gloss black. Black is tough to do, so I tried to use paints with different sheens.
