Where in Menard’s do you find it?

In the paint department with the masking tape.

I had used this stuff for years in my drywall & painting business.

I'm almost positive that all other home improvement, paint & even most hardware stores will carry it.

It's probably about the same thickness as newspaper, but I shy away from using newsprint because I wouldn't trust the ink touching any part of my freshly painted model.

Think of the old Silly Putty trick. ;)

Thanks. I’ll have to pick up a roll. Thinking about it, my dad was a painter and used something similar to mask off things like baseboards. But I think it had an adhesive on one edge similar to a post it note. Never crossed my mind to use something like this on a model!

You could also try baby oil.

I had something similar to what you're describing happen on this Porsche when I taped it to paint the trim.

Rubbed it with a Tshirt scrap soaked with baby oil and voila!

This paper does not have an adhesive on it.

It is applied with a machine using masking tape.

I just removed some Duck brand masking tape from my current model project and have some residue left behind on the painted surface. Any suggestions for removing it without damaging the paint?

Why duck tape????

Rubbing alcohol or dish washing liquid on a wet kitchen towel will remove the residue. You won't be rolling the dice hoping lighter fluid or other products will FUBAR the finish.
