Hotrod 97 Posted October 27, 2018 Author Posted October 27, 2018 Thank you for the compliment JC! I’m enjoying the journey of building.
Hotrod 97 Posted October 28, 2018 Author Posted October 28, 2018 The body is in primer and the wheels are done. I sanded the treads to give it that “drove to the show” look.
Mercuryman54 Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Fun, easy kit to build!! I built this one a few years ago. Have fun!! Dennis
Hotrod 97 Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Alright, time to get back to the Shelby. I wasn’t satisfied with the way the paint job turned out, so I soaked it in Super Clean for a bit to get the heavy stuff off. I’ll put another thin coat of primer on before I paint it (again).

UGH...... I hate when that happens... did it many many times. Keep with it.
mod3l Lover Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Nice stuff there Tyler!! I look forward to seeing it all done. David S.
Hotrod 97 Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 Alright, I'm gonna stay with this build until it's finished this time. I decided to start over with the body and strip it down to the bare plastic. Here it is after about a half hour in a 91% IPA bath. I'll clean up the remaining paint/primer tonight.
Hotrod 97 Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 Got the engine bay looking a little better. Just need to clean up the corners and then It'll be ready for primer.
Force Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Nice interior and I hope the paintjob will work out for you. This kit is a part of the last batch of all new tooling kits AMT/ERTL did in the mid to late 90's before the RC2/Learning Curve bought the company...not much new from them after that.

Thank you very much for the interesting information - I did not know that about this kit.
Slimguy Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 I love your detail work. I realize it is a small point but darn you painted that engine belt system with a very steady hand. It looks perfect, as does the dash and the door panels. Can't wait yo see the finished model.

Thank you very much, David. I appreciate the compliment. Good eye - I took my time with the fine details.
Hotrod 97 Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 I had an idea to make final assembly easier - what if I cut the engine bay out of the body and attached it to the interior/chassis assembly, like this? Any thoughts?
