junkyardjeff Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 Picked up a built 64 Fairlane thunderbolt that I would like to rebuild it as a hipo 289 car so is there a good 289 engine that has a 4 speed on it.
afx Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 (edited) Revellogram '65 Mustang or '66 Shelby both include a very nice 289. It's 1/24 scale but I have used it successfully many times in 1/25 scale builds. Some kit bashing and scratch building on this one but this will give you an idea. The chassis is the 1/25 scale AMT Cobra. Edited November 3, 2018 by afx
Force Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Another source is the engine in the recent tool AMT 67 Mustang or Shelby GT350, otherwise the 289 and 302 engines look the same so you can use either one. Edited November 4, 2018 by Force
espo Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Another possible source of a HiPo 289 can be found in Revell's '32 Ford 5-window 2 in 1 kit. It has chrome Ford Motor Sports Valve Covers and Headers. There's also a chrome open element Air Cleaner for the single four barrel Carb.
junkyardjeff Posted November 4, 2018 Author Posted November 4, 2018 I just want one with mid 60s styled stock valve covers so it looks close.
