Brudda Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 Here are some more pics for oldnslow. You know Codi , Years ago I was a total ford guy. Had a 66 shelby .Just sold it a few years ago. Ford had the total performance covered in the 60s . Drag racing, Indy car, f1, road racing. They had it all. But today I’m not one mark . I’m all over the place and in modeling it seams I have more gm cars than ford. Strange. Still love my fords though The Shelby pics are the real car sorry they are not straight
Brudda Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 Thank you dbostream and Bobdude for the great comments. Fitting the Big block. Going to have to cut the firewall and floor area. Have some pics
Brudda Posted December 26, 2018 Author Posted December 26, 2018 Cutting the firewall for the big block.
beeRS Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 This build is awesome. I love the stance and that chrome paint looks amazing. I will have to track down some of this stuff myself. Thanks for sharing.
Brudda Posted December 27, 2018 Author Posted December 27, 2018 Thank you beeRS. Here is the firewall primed. Put the interior dash in and it fits.
Brudda Posted December 28, 2018 Author Posted December 28, 2018 Here is the big block. Going to be a 4 speed car. Was going to leave it alone to build my friends car. Had to put a big block and 4 speed in it. Had to modify the exhaust manifolds . The angle was wrong. The big block came from the revell 66 el Camino kit. 18436572 is the firing order. Small block next to the big block. Here goes
Brudda Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 Motor in the car. Firewall fits , dash fits. Lucky so far. Steering box is going to be a challenge but the rest is good. There should be enough clearance for the fan and radiator. Pretty happy with it so far.
Brudda Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Good morning. The motor is wired. Now the carb. Was not going to change and detail this much but cannot help myself. It’s addicting
Brudda Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Carb fuel lines are in place.starting to look like a hot rod.
Brudda Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 Thank you Deuces and mod3l Lover. Here is a pic of the fan assembly
Modlbldr Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 This is turning out to be one amazing build. Love the color. Later-
Brudda Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Thank you Deuces ,Thank you Modlbldr, and Thank you beeRS
Brudda Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Laying out the chassis. Cut the rear wheel wells out to fit the rear tires. Put a brass crossmember for the transmission. The optional custom suspension is great! The stance is perfect. 1/25 cars usually have a very bad stance. This kit is very good . Put the exhaust in as you have to put that in before the cross brace and rear end. Have to modify the front of the exhaust to meet the big block exhaust manifolds. So far this is one cool kit as fit and finish is very good. I will do another. Not quite a tamiya kit but very close. I am impressed. Here is a pic of the chassis
Deuces Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Just curious if that "X" member came on all the '55 chevys or only on the convertible....????
Brudda Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 You know Deuces that is a good question. But I figured that since it is a big block with a few more horses and more weight that the crossmember might help keep it straight and strong. The crossmember is not on the instructions. But included in the kit. So maybe it is only on the convertible. Great question.
