mod3l Lover Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 To start this thread I would like to show some more recent inspiration photos I found last night. I have wanted just such a look as pictured here, now I have some better stuff to work with!
mod3l Lover Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 I know that one thing I do want is the shaved door handles. That is part of what I like about the 2 cars pictured above. And I need to keep the body work to a minimum! With all the other things I have to get together quickly, like wheel choice, colors, etc.!
disconovaman Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Love where this is headed bro! I can't wait to see the end result...
Janne Herajärvi Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 What kit has those wheels in lower picture, with red and white wall tires? They look great! Im following where this goes to..
Snake45 Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Which kit is this? Due to the very prominent side trim moldings, I'm thinking the AMT '59-'60.
mod3l Lover Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 Thanks Tony! I'm glad you like the wheels Janne, they are something I came up with myself. Simple to do! The Redline decal is from a kit from Revell (68 Charger) ! Then I put those over a set of whitewall with insert type tires from Monogram, and the wheels are BBS style from an AMT kit I think!?! I will likely use those on another build though! Snake you nailed it!! It's the AMT '59 Corvette with the red car on the box top photo.
mod3l Lover Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 Thanks Ray! I just wanted to see how they looked on there really. I'm going to use a bit lower profile tire for the build. David S.
mod3l Lover Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 (edited) Okay . . . . . .I have been trying to get some stuff done on this once dead build! So I put the electrodes on it's neck again, and . . "IT'S ALIVE"!!! Well, . . . kinda!?! I have been getting the last of the body work done, and in the process, I broke the the splash pan off the front. Not the worse thing really, cause I had stuff I needed to fix in that area anyhow! Then while looking at it in side profile, it suddenly looked way too tall in the area below the doors. The mods I did on the back and nose are what made it seem that way to my eye. So I'm taking a bit off the rockers on this car! So here is before and after on on the one side done- And the last pic is a spoon test of the color choice I am using for body color. It will have black on the side coves. and somewhere? Edited December 13, 2018 by mod3l Lover
mod3l Lover Posted December 16, 2018 Author Posted December 16, 2018 (edited) Because I'm going to finish this build thread after the "Bring Out Your Dead" is finished, I thought that a pic of the motor choice might be kinda cool. I'm starting to think that there is no way that I'll get this done in time!?! But I will put up a pic of where it was at then in the other main thread! When I dug this out of for the build thread, I didn't quite realize just what was still left to do I guess. Well, at least it will get me to finally finish this one after all these years!! David S. espo Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 I like the 6 cylinder engine. Are you thinking of using the side draft carbs. from the early Corvette kits or maybe even the cross flow head and injectors from the AMT '51 Chevy kit ?
mod3l Lover Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 You know what Dave, that's a good question!?!? This kit has been sitting so long that I really don't recall what my original ideas were! I think this ones out of a Monogram '53 Chevy, and that is why it looks a bit big-ish to me. Thanks for the suggestion, because I think that the '51 BelAirs would be a better donor! First I need to figure out the body and paint to see if I can still make the B.O.Y.D. build thread!?! David S.
