Lyle Willits Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) Lloyd doesn't usually restore muscle cars, but he just couldn't resist doing this one. American mags with MOTION center caps, correct side pipes from a Revell '70 Chevelle, resin L88 hood and , of course, a 427 under the hood. Paint is Krylon dark red which approximates garnet red. Randy Kern Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Love that color, especially on Novas & Camaros. You got the period look of it exactly. Another well detailed beautiful build there Lyle!
Harry P. Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Wow!!! Underhood detailing is fantastic! The side pipe covers are great too. Are they PE, or did you do a wash on them? Either way, they look amazing...

randx0 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Nice Nova . great engine bay,I applaude your trailblazing spirit. I don't have the skills to pull off what you have so I'm going to wait until there is a photo etch set for this kit and maybe a second building version .keep up the good work, cheers
Lyle Willits Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 I'm going to wait until there is a photo etch set for this kit and maybe a second building version . Model Car Garage has photoetch for the 68/69 Nova and for the 70-72 Nova. They were done about 3-4 years ago for the AMT kits, but they fit just fine on the new Revell kit.
novadose71 Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Turned out great Lyle. Those sidepipes do look good, maybe I'll have to try scribing mine a little deeper. I'll race ya when mine's done................
stump Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Sssssmokin'....... Dang, that looks the part Lyle....fantastic work mate. The sidepipes do suit it very well... Hey, any chance of a good view of your traction bars...? I like what you've done there, adding extra U-bolt detail....nice touch.. cheers mate Greg
Daniel Peterson Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 That's just gorgeous. I knew the new Nova wouldn't sit around long before you went to town on it. Outstanding!
mikelo Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Very nice! I have aways liked those hoods. Great details. Mike
cruz Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Very cool Lyle, hope to make this my next project!!!
miatamadman Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Nice job Lyle. Love the side pipes. Now I just need to finish mine

Hey, any chance of a good view of your traction bars...? I like what you've done there, adding extra U-bolt detail....nice touch.. cheers mate Greg Basically, I copied these from a real car. I just used thin siver wire, bent to shape and cut small pieces of wire insulation for the nuts and painted them silver.
stump Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Thanks Lyle. That is such a neat idea..very easy and it just adds so much more detail....great work. It's the small things like this that make it a scale replica...not just a model.... I really love the engine detail too, that looks spot on to me. I think one of mine will be a BM car for sure.... Thanks again mate. Greg
Raul_Perez Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Very nice work, Lyle!! All of the details look very well proportioned and placed. Yes, I'm surprised to see you build someting this "current"! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
