This is the Fujimi kit of the open version, that will not be built entirely out of box.

A very simple curbside, no engine, some chassis detail, but nice interior, done in a wheat color.

I didn't like the headrests, so they came off.

I don't like the stock wheels, so I'm going with this big 'n little set I got at NNL East. They are the same diameter, but a nice clean 5-spoke, with nice side wall detail and great tread detail.

I also have some pe scripts from R&MCo of Md, one I used on the dash, and the other for the rear panel.

Very minimal chassis detail, but I will upgrade the exhaust tips to aluminum tube ones.

As far as body color goes, I used a favorite Dupli-Color shade, Orange Mist.

Now for detailing and assembly.

Too cool, Randy!!

I saw a '74 Dino (red with tan leather) at the GoodGuys in Pleasanton yesterday. What a beauty!!

I told the two guys that were polishing it to hurry up because I needed the car for a lunch date!

This will be good. I just pulled mine out a week ago to look at it. I think I will do some small mods also. I didn't know they made a curbside version of this kit. Keep us posted.

Mike, I thought all three versions were curbside. Well, that explains why the trunk, hood & engine cover all are separate panels, which I glued shut on mine since there isn't anything there. I thought I saw somewhere that this kit is being re-issued. Even curbside though, it's a neat kit.

Hey Randy, with all due respect man, I'm gonna have to go out and break a bone or two, this way I will be able to turn out better models than the ones I'm building nowadays!!!! You are just kicking some behinds with these builds!! I'm gonna do what Lyle is doing at the meetings, just putting my models in the no contest section!!! ;) This is going to be awesome and in that color, WOW!!!!!!

This kit was offered as one of the Enthusiast Series and has a ton of detail. I have one of the full detail kits in my Fotki albums that I built a few years ago.

Yours looks great so far.

BTW, if this is the first one you have built, be careful when you put the chassis into the body. The fuel tanks barely fit inside and are easy to break off during installation.

Ah, Rob, now I see how it should be done! That Dino is spectacular, and I am not worthy  No, I snagged this off evilbay awhile back, pretty reasonable, and I just want a nice curbside shelf model of it, with a few of my changes. Thanks for the feedback guys!

That is cool.

I see this kit everytime I go to the LHS, but they want like $40 for it so I put it back.

One of these days though.

I built four of the full detail kits back when they sold for about $15 each...Yes, that was back when Methuselah was a young boy...

They are extremely well detailed and go together pretty well. I highly recommend the kit to any vintage Ferrari fan.

If I remember correctly, there's even an optional set of chromed wire wheels in the box...but I may be mistaken, they may have come with the Daytona...I remember building one of them with wire wheels...

Excellent Job as usual Randy! I LOVE that color! That looks good on about anything!

I built this kit back in '87 when it was new............I remember the decklids being a bit fiddly.

I still have the model but in subsequent years it's been stripped and taken apart. I also picked up a new sealed kit for 20 bucks a few years ago at a show, so they can be had on the cheap if you look hard enough.

Raul, the Ferrari Daytona coupe and Spider kits (I have both) give you the chromed wire wheels. They also have the five spoke "star" wheels, but to me they look their best in nice, shiny wire wheels! ;)

Thanks, Bill!! That makes sense. I built the Daytonas before I built the Dinos, explaining why I had those beautiful wire wheels for the GTS that I converted to a roadster.
