Which type of clear coat can I use safely over decals "but not future". I want to wet sand after a few light mist coats that would be applied over the decals. I have scale finishes super clear on now and each layer has been wet sanded with a very nice shine without any decals on yet. I'm stuck trying to figure out what the next step will be after I apply the decals with a clear coat that can be wet sanded, that wont eat the decals.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, best regards, Steve

Ive used testors wetlook clear over decals with no issues.

it might depend on the decals used thoughMod

These are kit decals under maybe 3 or 4 coats of said clear

WOW!! That is a really beautiful finish Bill and a really cool looking Vette. I do have a can of Testors wet look lacquer but I'm not sure if its the same as you are describing.

I use testors ultra gloss clear coat over decals all the time, so far I have not had any issues with kit decals.

Testor Wet Look clear or what used to be called "One Coat" are good choices. I'm told that since it was reformulated, Tamiya TS-13 is safer to use over decals than it was in it's older formula ( no personal experience with it yet).

i moved to 2K clears a couple years ago and that is all i use now.  Try Splash Paints 2k clear, one of the best I have ever used and you can buy a small amount to try.
