restoman Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 One of my favourite drivers... Those decals were a LOT of fun.

Vince66 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Always liked these cars and that color scheme. Great job and yea I know about those PITA decals on this car.
Old Coyote Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Very nice build sir ..... you did an excellent job with those decals.
restoman Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Thanks for the compliments! Yeah... those decals... I used a combo of the kit's sheet and two (2) sheets of Slixx decals to get it done. IF they released from the paper, didn't crumble or tear, it was fun getting them to lay flat. I tried everything I knew of: decal film, setting solvent, warm water, slightly soapy water, spit, Future, and lots and lots and lots of patience (two months worth, off and on)... many of them just wouldn't co-operate and had to be re-done, hence the three sheets. Quite a few I had to float into place with Future and hope for the best till they dried. Once it was all done, I brushed on a final coat of Future, hoping to keep everything bright and in place for years to come. But overall, I'm very happy with how it turned out. It's a sharp looking car and looks great from a normal distance.
Jim N Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Great job Mike. I rather enjoy applying decals, but when they fight you every step of the way, it's no fun.
Heartattaq Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Very nicely done. I remember doing one of these a LONNNNGGGGG time ago. I had such a huge problem with the decals, didnt matter what decal I tried to put on or how slow I went or what amount of time I soaked it. every single decal would split while attempting to either slide it off the backing or position it on the car. I cursed that car and vowed to never do another DJ car again lol.

Mike Stem Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 I was going to get one of these models until I read the horror stories about the decals! I've got 2 of the Interstate Batteries DJ cars & they will have to do.
