Jimbo8v92 Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 Did a little sprayout of the orange and it is such a nice color. Now just gotta find where i put the cream color so i can put them together lol.
Jimbo8v92 Posted April 20, 2019 Author Posted April 20, 2019 Little progress while the weather is crappy. I stretched the frame and started the cowl extension that im probably going to shave down a little bit. I used the front rails from from a tyrone malone super boss kit. Also might use the twin turbo v12 out of the kit for the mack . ? 2
Vince66 Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 Duck Bill Mack lol Looking great lots of work ahead but coming along nicely.

Lol yeah thats alot of nose for a tiny R-model cab.. thinking a mercury sleeper will help that big front end look a little smaller.
gotnitro? Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Wow that's turning out fantastic ! Adding the buzzin dozen will certainly set this mack apart Where did you add the frame sections from the super boss I see a graft behind the cab
Bennyg Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Very nice. American Mack’s vary quite a lot. I’m modelling a 1/32 rubber duck and during research I discovered that particular model had straight chassis rails. In Australia, we had the r series rails like the one in the kit all the way to the early 2000s. Love your project. Ben

Ivor The Engine Driver Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 Boy, the thought of straight pipes on a 12-banger Detroit makes my ears beg for mercy!
leafsprings Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 Very nice work on the conversion. There are so many ways to improve on the standard AMT kit.
Jimbo8v92 Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Well its been a little bit since ive been around, but i dug out my old project the other day and i think im gonna get back to it. Ive ordered a few things for it since i abandoned it and think im going to change a few things aswell. We will see how it goes hoping im able to stick with it this time. Very exited to hear that ATIM was recently purchased by someone btw!! 2
Biggu Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I will watch this build with great interest. This is VERY cool.

Jimbo8v92 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Messed around a bit. Got more of the engine together, and debating on running the twin turbo setup from the Tyrone Malone kit. Turbos need some tweeking with some heat or cut and be moved forward being it pushes the cab to far back. They do however line up perfect with the farr aircleaners! Thinking about ditching this frame though and going with another kit frame. 2
Biggu Posted January 10 Posted January 10 This is pretty cool , I wonder , on the real one , how much they had to “beef” up the drive line , u-joints, drive shaft, transmission, rear ends etc because if the torque on this monster? Maybe none ? It sure would be a pulling brute for back in the day, it would be a fun drive. i’m really enjoying catching up and keeping up with the up dates. Thanks for bringing this back to the bench 2

Thanks for bringing this back to the bench The only 12v71 powered R models were N/A, none came turbocharged. Werent insane power numbers, but big for the time probably around 425-450hp. Im sure most could handle the tq 3
Jimbo8v92 Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Picked up a new r model chassis kit to start fresh. Need to make some motor mounts for the v12 once i get the hood on. Still trying to figure out front tires. If anyone has an idea on a tire that will work let me know. Seems not many guys are making tires anymore atleast what ive found. I messaged Jamie from moluminum on FB so we will see. I am running his rear tires and dayton wheels on the rear. 1
Jimbo8v92 Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 Hoods mounted to the frame. Need to make motor and trans mounts and started to put the neway air ride together. Needed alot of drilling and cleanup. Will be using the mack toploader rears. I think the frame length will be perfect for a daycab but i really want one of AITM's Mercurys on the back.
Jürgen M. Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Try the Italeri truck tires! I use them very often since my source for Revell soft rubber tires hast closed down. They also have wider tires for European trailers. They look pretty good! I used the truck tires on my Mack Cruiserliner recovery. The fatter trailer tires I put on the front axle of my GMC General: 1

Jürgen M. Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Thanks! Hope you don't see that as a hijack but it's always hard to describe tires so I thought a pic or two wouldn't hurt! 2

Jürgen M. Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Thanks! I'm just being careful since I've made that mistake before! 1
