I believe the cars used a 170 or 200 inline 6, as did the Bronco.

for anyone that has built this, how does the hood sit? does it sit flat. When i tried to build the prior ranger pickup the hood sit horribly to the point that i boxed it up and refused to finish it.

I have a cab mocked up on my bench and the hood fits perfectly. No warpage, and there are two small pins inside the front corners to keep the hood in place (side to side) on the fender tops. A big improvement over the previous kits, IMO.

I just yesterday ordered the '65 utility bed version of this pickup. I didn't think they were gonna be out this early.
