landman Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I have just bought what I think is the latest reiteration of the Revell 68 Mustang GT. Am I correct in assuming the engine in there is a 428 and not a 390?
1972coronet Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Likely a 390 ---- however , since the 390 and 428 ( ad seq. / sub seq. ) were both in the Ford Edsel engine family , those engines were , for most purposes , visually-identical . If I remember correctly , the kit is based upon the Bullitt '68 Sportroof ; the 'real' car was 390-equipped . Later iterations include(d) a Tasca Ford 428 Cobra Jet SS/E version .
Rodent Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 They are pretty much identical. The kit version I have has the snorkled air cleaner from the Bullit kit and the scoop, hood stripe, and ram-air air cleaner to allow you to build a 68 1/2 Cobra Jet.
vamach1 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Sort of like what is the difference between a 327 and 350 Chevy engine.
