Flat bed straight truck

I'm making a flat bed straight truck out of a 1/25 scale white western star what would be the proper length and width for the bed..

Sounds like a truck question. Maybe you can ask it down in the Truck section.

Or...you should remember that a most truck bodies, flatbeads, vans, tankers, whatever, were built by aftermarket suppliers and not the factory that built the truck chassis and cab.

So there's really no "proper" length and width for a body, as they could vary from builder to builder.

HOWEVER...in general, any truck body will usually be wide enough to cover the wheel-tire set used, and extend an inch or more out to the sides, but not too much. The length will probably not be more than a couple of feet longer than the end of the chassis.

Do a Google image search for "vintage flatbead truck" for a good idea of what you need to be aware of.

That kit has a sleeper in it, make the bed you're building as wide as the sleeper and you'll be fine.

Modern day standards limit bed width to 102 inches before oversize permits are required, so I wouldn't go any more than 102 millimetes with what you build. Vintage trucks might be slightly narrower, say 8 feet even. The choice is yours
