Picked this one up at the local toy show for $10 (used). It seemed to be in good shape. This is my first Bburago and it seems a step up in overall quality from the Welly/Maisto/MotorMax stuff I’m used to.

Not much to Snake-Fu on this one. I sanded the tire treads, painted the vents in the front valence black, painted the parking lights white and the front side markers orange, and the door handles got Molotowed. Didn’t even have to disassemble the body to white-stem the headlights (it wasn’t needed), though I did white-stem the taillights (easily accomplished with the flip-up rear body). The front and rear grilles were chrome and molded with a very fine mesh pattern, but it wasn’t quite fine enough. I painted the mesh black and think it looks better that way. (Photos of a real one seem to show the grilles in the rear panel and in the lower valence to be body color. I didn’t think I could pull this off with red paint. Oh well.)

The photos I found looked like the interior should be light gray instead of Bbrago’s molded light tan. Maybe I’ll fix this someday; for now I’ll just live with it.

I like this one a lot and will keep my eye open for other Bburago models of cars of this general vintage. As always, thanks for looking and comments welcome.

Bburage seems to make some nice Ferraris at reasonable prices.  My buddy bought one that was labeled DeAgostini (I think) and when he got it, it was a Bburage in their box.  But it was a car that isn't available through normal US channels.  It was a blue something - that's how extensive my knowledge is of ferrari die casts.  But like normal, it was noice excelt the bare metal showing through under the panels.

Good score.

Nice Snake. Really nice model of Drogo nose 250LM. Here's a link to a famous one. Only about 5, I forget exact number, had Drogo nose retrofit. Most had Scaglietti short nose.

Here's list of them. Some "confusion" over LM's, as wrecked old race cars lose identity at times :(

Duke, thanks for posting these links. Yesterday I was checking out Revell vs. Burago 250 LM models on evilbay and initially thinking the Burago cars didn't look quite right. Then I realized the difference between short nose, Scaglietti cars vs. the long nose Drogo cars. Most of the full size cars I've seen online are the shorter nose, which now makes sense, as they were built that way originally.

The Academy curbside kits are a nice rendition, but the going price is just nuts. I'll probably end up buying both a Revell and Burago instead and rework them. I could use the Burago as a base to create a replica of the #21 winner of the '65 Le Mans race. I've seen people try to do that with the Academy kit, and now I know why they don't look correct ~ it's the Drogo nose.

Tim, Bondo can be your friend.  The red #21 is an Italian made BBurago which I converted to a Drogo long nose using Bondo and with PE wheels, the LM winner.  The yellow #28 is an Academy OOB with a Scaglietti nose.
