Ace-Garageguy Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Draco, a wild turbine-powered one-of-a-kind STOL aircraft built by ace designer / fabricator Mike Patey, was destroyed a few weeks back in a crosswind takeoff incident. She'll be rebuilt, better than ever.
Snake45 Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I saw some videos of that airplane, VERY impressive--and that's coming from someone who rode along on a few max-performance airshow demos in an unloaded Turbo Porter.
Joe Handley Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I figured it wasn't going to stay dead for long, not as long as Mike Patey was alive and able to start wrenching right away. The damage didn't look horrible, that said, what little airframe knowledge I have comes from seeing wrecked R/C planes and he seems to know exactly what he's doing in top of it.
STYRENE-SURFER Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Mike Patey has some Brass ones. Reverse pitch in flight! Thats just crazy.
STYRENE-SURFER Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Mike has a new project after the demise of the Draco. Here is his latest update. This guy is so enthusiastic about aviation and his builds its just fun watching. "BACK TO WORK" ?
