Snake45 Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Here’s another one I didn’t even know existed until I saw it on the $10 rack at Rite Aid. I have another diecast ’69 Judge, but it’s 1/24, orange, and has aftermarket wheels, so of course I had to have this one too. Like several other Wellys, this one is a hair undersized, maybe 1/26. But it actually seems to fit in better on my 1/25 musclecar shelf than the Monogram 1/24, which looks huge. Paint is nice and looks like a passable match to ’69 Pontiac Matador Red. Overall shape looks good, and it features the non-hidden headlights, unlike the Monogram and original MPC promos and kits. It only required 1st degree Snake-Fu—detailing the Rally II wheels, the grille, and some minor Silver Sharpie touchup. I like this one a lot, and it looks great in company with either my original MPC ’68 and ’70 GTOs, or its Welly sibling ’68 4-4-2, ’70 GSX, and ’71 Chevelle SS (all of which are about the same slightly undersized scale). Thanks for looking, and as always, comments welcome.
randyc Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Nice! I like that one a lot. Better that my white one. All I did was redrill the axle holes to make it out just a bit lower and detail the wheels. I think the wheels and tires are undersized as well. I took a photo of it with the GMP 70 that I'm cleaning up to sell. Wonder how many colors are out there? Todd also has a Redbox GTO in blue with weird wheels on it. Not sure where it is right now for comparison.
Gramps46 Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I thought that looked familiar so checked and I do have it. Good old Rite Aid. I see what you mean about it sitting a little bit high though.

I've had a lot of trouble with that on diecasts. On at least one, I've had to cut the axle itself with a Dremel.

Expand Seems like this one wasn't too bad. I think I held one wheel and twisted the other? And I think I had it disassembled. My original plan was to swap wheels and tires but couldn't find anything better that fit right. The wheels are ok, but tires need to be taller and would have been a lot of work to wheels to make them fit tires. I think.
