I picked up this kit awhile ago waiting for inspiration to strike , and I finally got around to building it. Wandering thru the lhs w our 4 yr old daughter,  she started playing w paint cans..noticing they were shades of pink....I'm building it for her  !

The builds gonna be straight oob, just a fun build while I wait for parts to arrive for the oshkosh plow.

She kept picking up a certain can..it matched her coat...and we decided that was perfect.  Testors electric pink lacquer w wet look clear  !

A quick cleanup of the fine molding lines, and bath in dish soap..and it headed to the booth!

3 light coats later it was laying down perfect and even..the rounded body lines on this model really showed off the raspberry colors and flake in the paint. I let it rest a few minutes before getting cleared ..then took outside for a look in natural light 20200222_122021.thumb.jpg.ecf23500c886c6495d2cccf46ec584c2.jpg20200222_123414.thumb.jpg.f618726814961ad0cd76d3233009ec7f.jpg

I planned a light interior, settling on tamiya white primer, that seems to dry w a nice sheen. I stuck the primed tub in the drying body to check contrast..

Heres where I hit the wall..not building many cars, I dont have the eye for colors that work w each other...a quick text to my buddy Tbill, and i had a  few ideas. Originally a tan accent was planned, but screwing around with a mix of red and white ...i had this salmon color hmm ....Tbill liked it and our  daughter gave me the thumbs up so I was off and painting.

Now the big test..what's it gonna look like in the car..and the engine together

That's it for now ! Any comments or suggestions welcome  !

The color you created for the interior looks very compatible with the body color. I would only suggest trying to sharpen up the edges between the White and the Solman colors.  I have never used that shade of Pink before but I notice a nice fine metallic finish. The good thing is getting to do this with and for your daughter.

Thanks ! Yeah I need to clean up the separation lines once they dry more . The tamiya paints dry quicker , and using few drops of thinner kept the paint flowing..sometimes with a mind of it's own lol

You might try outlining the area you're wanting to paint with a #11 blade. This forms a microscopic BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH to keep the wet paint where you want it and gives you a sharp edge between the colors.

Started assembly on the frame and floor pan and fitting the aluminized exhaust system. I was very impressed how everything fit together,  even the exhaust pipes clicked right into their slots . That small area of bare plastic will be touched up before the suspension goes in

First time doing bmf, turned out pretty good! Just a few chrome moldings to break up the pink

Once I get the dash details and door panels , this will be finished

Oh wow, this is GORGEOUS!  I think Donn Yost built one of these in a very similar color in his video series, if you haven’t seen it.

Nice job so far!

Thanks  ! I havent watched any build videos of Dave's

Getting the interior details painted up, and the dash gages ( decal ) in place and I should have it finished . Decided since it's a fresh air car , the occupants should have at least minimal safety belts. Would white lap belts be appropriate?

Looking at the picture it's hard to think this is your first dealings with BMF.

Thanks , I've used it for masking aircraft panels but havent built many cars w the stuff to avoid it

I'm really pleased how it looks , and adds a needed bit of bling to the body

I dont think ive ever seen this kit built before today. You did a great job with it .Ive been on the fence about that Testors pink but its perfect on this build.

Thanks , the build was pretty straightforward except it suffered from the crushed windshield A pillar. That caused the glass to fit funky in the body requiring epoxy to hold it down

The pink was a can my 4 yr old picked up at lhs, I thought it would look good on this ..I'm really pleased
