After a couple of years of getting to know Gregg, emailing each other about Ala Kart reference photos and articles and back pain, sadness of the loss of many of our hobbies finest and even model related topics I finally got to meet him in person. I will echo what I have heard others say, and that is Gregg is just a regular down to earth guy. Bright and early I first ran into him at the toy show briefly and he was bopping around like a kid in a candy store. Later when we really got to talk a little, was when he was taking photos of models for the ENTIRE 6 hours of the show. I watched him oogle each model he was photographing and really showing interest and appreciation to each guy and his model that was selected. At one point he was laying on the floor, obviously trying to relax out a back spasm and then he kept on going. Some editors of magazines have little or no knowledge or even like or care what it is they are publishing. There's no doubt in my mind, if there ever was any, that Gregg truly loves this hobby. It shows in his eyes, his genuine smile and in the contents of the magazine I know he loves.

Gregg and I have traveled to many shows over the years as some of you already know. But what most of you don't know is that I have maybe traveled over 50,000 miles with Gregg both driving and flying.

I have shared many a hotel/motel room with the man. (Nope, he don't snore) Many were cheap and seedy like the ones you end up sleeping in your clothes. But then there were more than a few which cocooned us in such wonderful splendor that we didn't want to leave! We have consumed way too many to count stale donuts at truck stops right around 1am on the way to a show and Got so drunk on a 1st class flight that finding baggage claim became a REAL challenge!

Coffee cups, gummy bears and chip wrappers have usually littered the floor of all our travel vehicles from Hawaii to Kansas City to Peutra Rico to Houston to Denver to L.A. and everything inbetween. I have spent many hundreds of hours watching and helping Gregg shoot models at these shows. The one constant is that he really likes to talk to ALL the wonderful people who make up this hobby. Sure his back becomes a problem now and then but that is slight compared to the time he spends visiting with friends, remembering peoples names and treating everyone he meets like they are the only one. So I have to agree with you. He has an undeniable passion for the hobby that is in my opinion rivaled only by his love for the fairer of our species. If this hobby were populated by more females... I think that is the only way he could like it any greater. And that is no fable!

I met Gregg at the Western Nationals in '99, at the dinner after the show, and he was a real nice cool guy! He had hair back then..... B) I have a pic or two with him and Jim Keeler, also a great guy. You wanna see...? To say the least, I had a blast that time in California!!

B) Yeah, I know what you guys mean. Gregg was over in the corner takein pictures, when I walked up. I waited for him to get a quick break so I could introduce myself, and when I did introduce myself as george 53, , the look on his face was like "oh, I know you" and let me know he was a genuinely freindly person. He spoke with me very easily, laughed at my swimmin in from Hawaii comment, an sold me a shirt, all inna span of a few minutes, caz he really was busy. I'da liked to talked with him more, but like I said, he was REALLY busy! :D

Gregg is a good boy in my book too! I can tell without a doubt, money has nothing to do with what he does for US....he loves the hobby and what people are involved.

Plain and simple......Gregg is the real deal.....if any of you guys get a chance, and you see Gregg at a show, do me a favor. Stand back, watch him, he will treat every modeler at that show, it don't matter if you just won Best Of Show at the GSL or you just built your first Snap kit, he will always have a kind word to say about your model, and will always encourage you to keep going. He will always show his appreciation that....just like you, he shares the same love and passion for this hobby.....no matter if you are a top dog or just a small fish in the pond......Thanks Gregg B)

Yep, Gregg truly is a great guy, has a GREAT magazine and runs the best model car forum I've found on the web. I've spoken with him several times at the various events. He's always smiling and has a great sense of humor, even when his back is bothering him.

I wish you continued happiness and success with the hobby and the magazine.

We're looking forwad to seeing you at the NNL West in March.

Regards,

Are we all talking about the same Gregg? <_<

Just kidding he is a really great guy. I got to meet him in PR for the first show he photographed there.

This was when he was in the greatest pain of all. Since than we have become good friends.

I unit myself to you all on what has been said about Gregg. We know him as 2G Gregg since we have a

club member with just 1G. :)

I don't know how I missed this topic.

No, it wasn't the JD.

I am truly humbled.

Dave, thanks for such humbling words

The greatest part of this hobby is the people I get to meet, share good times, good models, good food, and of course a snip or two here and there.

This was the wildest trip I have ever done.

Three weekends.

13,815 miles flown

1,247 miles driven

eight hotels

one great house

two great shows

my son and the trip to the top of the world

friends to many to count

Jairus, I think we have over 50,000 miles together! That one road trip was what, 5,000 miles in a brand new, and I mean brand new Scion!

That was a blast. Bringing it back to the dealer for it's 5,000 mile checkup a week later. That really was worth it just to see the look on their faces.

And you weren't supposed to tell anyone about that first class incident

I thank you for the humbling words also. You have been a great friend over the years.

Meeting folks and becoming great friends with some of the greatest people out there can't be beat.

And with Atlanta in the booked stage, this will end a great year.

This post has really touched me.

Thanks guys.

I truly appreciate it.

See you all in Atlanta.

I'll throw a carrot in front of you now (edit: make that a JD) and give you an official invite to one of out biggest Shows/Comps

on our sacred soil...The QMHE which is in August each year.

We don't get a huge turnout in autos, but the quality makes up for quantity....

I guess I gotta say something nice too about our friend Gregg.

We here in Hawaii get to see Gregg more than some of you on the mainland.

Our monthly meetings are the only happening in the islands for us model car guys.

Gregg has been one who has kept it going for many many years, hes always helping us guys out

and keeping us informed of the latest happenings in the hobby. I dont know anyone as dedicated to the hobby as he is. His enthusiasim for the hobby is unmatched. I dont want to forget Rich and Chris for also keeping the club together all these years, THANKS guys!

Not too long ago he started to bring food to the meeting, now hes got me hooked on

Grace's "Mostinko Chicken"- garlic fried chicken. Yummmmmmmmmmmmm,

Look above for a sample.

Thanks for the chicken Gregg! and thats not the real reason I come to the meetings  .

Hes moved a few times to the mainland but somehow always came back, I think he was missing us guys too much! :P
