RodBurNeR Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) I have been struggling with this news since i got a message from Darryl this morning. First of all, i didn't know Karen. Darryl talked about her many times and i could tell her truely loved her. They were married 39 years. She died of a massive heart attack this AM. I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news, but i know so many of you have known Darryl for years and thought it was only respectful to let you know of his loss. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have this happen. When i read his message to me, i burst into tears and i am having a hard time typing this. I am very hurt for him and am praying that he stays strong and knows how many friends he has. Darryl has helped so many , including me and has been my close friend of almost 4 years. Please keep him in your prayers and allow him some time to be alone, but keep him close. With all the bad news lately, each person i knew and this put me over the edge so i apologize. Be strong Darryl, the good Lord has her now. Edited October 20, 2008 by awbcrazy

Modellpularn Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Oh no, more sad news. I've known Darryl since '99, we got to be friends over the phone, would you believe it!? He's truly a great guy, and has helped me get some stuff over the years. I regard him as one of my best friends. You know, with some people you just connect instantly, and Darryl is such a person. He has mentioned in email and over the phone that Karen wasn't feeling too well, but I never expected something like this to happen. My thoughts and prayers go out to you my friend. RIP Karen. Btw guys, it's Gassaway.

Bob, I can fully understand if you made a typo. In fact, I got a bit choked up as well when I was writing my post. If the financial situation right now wasn't so bad, I'd hop a plane and head out to San Diego, no question about it!! Edited October 20, 2008 by Modellpularn

Terry Sumner Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 May I add my sincere best wishes and condolences. I have come very close to losing my wife of 27 years now 5 times. My very supportive wife is truly a gem. It is usually she who pushes me to buy kits and go to shows. Unfortunately, she is also very ill with Crohn's disease and a number of related complications which have resulted in her being in the hospital over 1600 days in the last 13 years! Yes...that's no typo...1,600 days plus! And during that time there have been 5 incidents when she came close to leaving me. I would be lost without her. Terry Sumner
Billy Kingsley Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 My prayers go out to Darryl and his entire family. What a terrible shock and news!
