I stared at the stash for a while. Then I settled on the display trailer. It will be done as a trailer that FTB (The fictitious engine rebuilder in my diorama) would use to show engines at car shows. Here are the questions:

  1. What would be the likeliest side opening (for display) used? Flip up trailer sides (big and likely heavy panel to raise) or roll-up canvas sides?
  2. Where should I put the WIP, dioramas, cars or all the rest?

And next you will need to build one of the trucks to tow !

I’m slowly finishing up my two charity builds. For me next up will be a Jeepster from my unfinished project shelf.

Pat, I have not read positive info on these trailer kits. I have only seen one built. I hope you get the information you need.. I would build it under light commercial..

Working with the clear plastic will be tricky . I think you could even make the side fold down to create a "stage" and be able to display several engines . That trailer is too short for an average sized person to be standing up in so for a flip up side or roll out canvas you'd need to add some height .

Good point. I'll take that into consideration.

Now, I have a question.... Is that the same trailer that also came with a late model Chevy Silverado pickup???? If so, then I have that same trailer kit....

My suggestion would be to hinge the sides or a portion of the sides from the top or roof. What I have seen at different car shows is that is the way most venders have their trailers set up. With the sides raised this gives them a covered and shaded area to present their wares and canvas rollup sides can keep out the wind and rain. You can even have a small step stool so that someone could step up into the trailer its self to view items. Engine stands can be under the eves of the trailer sides along with tables, display cabinets, and brochure stands.

Like Randy says, the roof is too low for people to stand inside. However, I have also seen the same type of flip up side as David describes. I still have some of the mini hinges that would make a flip up side possible. There appears to be enpugh room outside of the wall to maybe place the "stage" that could be lowered, sort of a step off the ground type, like a big running board. It can hardly be used as a car trailer as you can see.

Another thing to consider. This is going to be a trailer and as such with a chassis and suspension under this display case come trailer it will is higher off the ground, and you could still use the interior of the trailer as storage or media display. on the exposed sides.
