Hotrod 97 Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 My life has gotten just a bit busier of late, and I haven’t had much time at the workbench. So, instead of trying to rush through a build and end up making it less-than-acceptable, I am going to be taking a break from building models. I’m not “quitting”, just waiting until I have more time and a better setup to build to my standards. I’ll still pop in every now and then (or...ya know...often) to browse and participate in threads and conversations. Just wanted to let all of you know.
GeeBee Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 I had to do that at the beginning of the year when we moved down to London, I didn't want to work from a small desk and not have all my tools to hand, so I left everything back in our home back in Solihull, we're planning on moving back down to London very soon, so my modelling might have to take a back seat while I get back to my photography work. Your modelling will be waiting for you when the times right.....
tbill Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 I go in cycles too, when weather is bad ( read that as winter) I hibernate in the build room, when the weather finally comes around and outdoor shenanigans can commence again, I don’t see the model room much .

Expand Same here, just cleaned out my bench for the summer. Might build small accessories for my cars, pick ups on rainy days. But no vehicles.
randyc Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 My life kinda got that way. SO I quit trying to detail so much and just started building stuff that seems to be fun. Like old AMT kits with one piece chassis. Up on a shelf, they look great. Bodies were pretty exacting back then? I lost a coouple when I packed up for last winter - hope they turn up again soon. Some new kits. Detail what is there and leave it at that. I do enjoy it. And less stressful for me. I spend time between bench sessions thinking about what's next when I get back. THat seems to help somewhat. Good luck with your breaks out there. Just come on back when ya are ready.
Tom Geiger Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Life happens! At the beginning of the pandemic I hunkered down and spent a load of time at the bench. In the last month I’m spending my time on home improvements. Use of some of the same skills, a bit more physically exhausting, same kind of satisfaction!
