Jeff Johnston Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 This has been a long time restoration project. When I saw the new Root Beer color, it was the push I needed to complete this one. I had one just like this back in 82'
Nick F40 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 The mini TR7, man I love this car and nice color. You had one? sweet
CAL Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 The mini TR7, man I love this car and nice color. You had one? sweet That is cool, I owned one too, A Bertone SE with a race cam, header, and webers. It was a fun little car to drive, but had problems a plenty.
Jeff Johnston Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 yes mine had problems too...bad probems. I loved the car, but ended up just geting tired of getting stranded, and shelling out the bucks. I had to replace 3 valves, and it cost me 550 bucks in 82'. Then a clutch for the same. I ended up selling it and replaced it with a very fun and reliable Camaro.

Didn't really have mechnical problems, but had lots of electrical issues. and the front struts kept poping the threaded colars off. Yeah, I actually made money on mine... It had a long history. My dad bought it new and was the one who did the mods and sold it, ten years later my sister was looking for a car and happened to come across my dads old car for sale and bought it. I bought it off her shortly after that for $1200 and had it about a year, it caught fire, and I sold for $1500. Edited October 30, 2008 by CAL
weejy Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Wow - this sure does bring back memories - I built an Entex 1/20th X1/9, during the "Blizzard of '78" (holy cow, that's 30 years ago! ) It was molded in lime green... it might even still be in my parents attic. Did the Entex stuff end up as Bandai?

Did the Entex stuff end up as Bandai? Quite the opposite; Bandai is still around-they just don't make model cars anymore. Entex was just a brand name given to distribute some Japanese models from various sources, including Bandai, back in the '70's. I have a mint unbuilt lime green X1/9, I built one too when I was a kid. Doubt I'll ever build this one, so it'll be hitting the 'bay soon.

I'd take the green one off your hanbs depending on what you would want for it.
monkeyclaw Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Great little X/19....that is one kit that has just eluded me for decades! One of these years I will build one.....I TOO had a REAL X/19 ...mine was a 78; and was a great little car; it drove like a go-kart....lotsa fun...what made mine so much fun was the engine swap! I put a "euro-spec" 128 engine in; cammed, dual weber side drafts, cammed, ported and polished; and the basket of snakes header....that little car was lightning fast! I was also fortunate that the car had ABARTH magnesium rims mounted when I bought it.... my son inherited the X/19 as his 1st car....you can guess the rest (LOL) Again...great model.....matt
Spike Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 awsome model. my friend had a real x/19. it was his cuzins car, but it sat out in the woods for a long time so one day we decided to pull it out and get it running. got it running but the coolant tubes were rotted out. he even had a parts car for it in the woods. we had big plans for it, but he ended up sellin it, and i guess it cought fire i hate jap ###### cars, but man i loved that lil car

The X1/9 was an Italian car... Edited November 2, 2008 by Jeff Johnston
