1972coronet Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Here's a breakdown of year-by-year for the 340 : 1968 = Chrysler Engine Red 1969 = Chrysler Engine Turquoise ** 1970 = Chrysler Engine Orange 1971 = Chrysler Engine Orange ( through ~ April 1971 , when the colour was changed to the "1972 Blue" ) 1972 = Chrysler Engine Blue 1973 = Chrysler Engine Blue ** The 1969 340 engines' colour depended-upon two things : (1) Some early-production Darts and Barracudas had "leftover" red engines ; (2) Some late-production Darts and Barracudas had "early" engine orange engines , and ; (3) Assembly plant location . Los Angeles for example produced some red 340 powered cars as late as December 1968 . The majority of 1969 340s were Chrysler Turquoise --- that's the safest bet when building a 1969 Dart or Barracuda .
