cobraman Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 (edited) Found this vintage kit on the bay and the box art looked just like the the one I bought new in 1974 . I know the Mustang ll is not well thought of but I had two and they both served me well . I have also read that if not for the ll the Mustang would have been discontinued . True ? Anyway , I would probably been better off starting with an AMT kit but I came across this and took a shot . Upon opening I could see it was a very simple kit almost toylike. The bumpers are chrome whine is wrong, there isn’t any interior door panels and also no back seat . There is a panel in the back and I guess at one time this kit was motorized . It does come with a rear spoiler , window slats and fender flairs which I don’t need . The loose chrome pieces in photo all will need to be stripped . Edited June 23, 2020 by cobraman spelling error
vamach1 Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 (edited) Look like a fairly simple build and the body from what I can see looks pretty accurate although I am not a II expert. I built a red Mach1 for one of the challenges and it came out pretty good (AMT or MPC I don’t remember) but I did have to poach some Mach1 decals from another kit. I think I have some mirrors somewhere I painted but forgot to glue on and the real car has 13 inch tires so the rear tires I used on mine look too large. You may want to skip the British target decals I see in your picture - I do not recall that being a special edition made by Ford. ? There was a “western” special edition that I have seen in person that was interesting and a Stallion edition Ford made to sell more cars. Edited June 23, 2020 by vamach1 Mirrors
Can-Con Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Ray, are my eyes going that bad or does the car in your pic have 5 spoke Magnum 500 wheels on it? I thought all Mustang IIs had 4 bolt wheels.
cobraman Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 Rex, your example is a dead ringer for mine. Steve, wheels were 4 lug.
