Spottedlaurel Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 (edited) Monogram "Fat Fendered" kit, first built in the early '90s and then sat in parts in various boxes for many years. After my son started locating the various major components and I found other odds and ends I decided to resurrect it. 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Surely just a case of quickly reassembling it? It turned out to be more of an effort than I'd imagined and I have mixed feelings about how it turned out....... 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Makes for a good companion to the Chevelle I recently finished: 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr It was largely built as I originally did nearly 30 years ago, there are some things I couldn't easily correct and to be honest I didn't want to spend too much time on it. I had to source a different set of appropriate wheels as I'd used those it came with on the Chevelle. I struggled with getting it back together, having to take apart and redo several elements to get it to a tolerable appearance. I don't remember it being such a struggle first time around, maybe I didn't have the same standards back then?..... Still, it was good to get it out of the parts box and back on the shelf. doorsovdoon Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Looks great, definitely worth the effort. The grill could do with some blackwash or colour, otherwise it looks fine to me.

I did vaguely consider putting a wash on the grille and in the panel lines, but I'd already spent more time on it than I wanted to and I was happy just to to see it one piece rather than keeping finding bits in the parts boxes. doorsovdoon Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Still, a nice build. Some of the models I've done have been such a pain I've left some things that could have been done, so I know what you mean! haha,
alan barton Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 It's always good to save a model that had fallen from grace! This came back together really well. I would also run a bit of a wash on that grille - maybe while you are waiting for something else to dry, and you could absolutely nail that eighties monochromatic look if you could drop the front end of, hog out the top of the front crossmember and get her sniffing the bitumen a bit more. Still, I know all about getting something done and just wanting to step away so that's a perfectly OK option also! Cheers Alan
