Rapid Randy’s 1956 Ford Thunderbird

Not long after Randy Brumwell returned from the Korean War he unexpectedly inherited his grandfather’s hardware store.   Having been a supply sergeant in the Army, Randy had a pretty good business sense and soon was able to grow the hardware store with the housing boom in full swing as GI home loans were readily available.  Randy also had an appreciation for advertising and when the opportunity to link up with the Trustworthy Hardware organization popped up he jumped at the chance.  But Randy also knew he needed to get his new brand on the street and in front of the local handymen and contractors.  Thus he pulled his grandfather’s ’56 T Bird out of the lumber shed and stripped it of non-essentials.

 Randy had the T Bird painted in Trustworthy colors, changed the oil and plugs, put new wheels and tires on.  It didn’t hurt of course that his cousin was an ace when it came to building high performance Y block Ford engines.

Randy proceeded to race it at area dragstrips, thus earning the reputation as Rapid Randy  and getting his hardware message out to the public.

Niiice.   I see those cars and sometimes think I need them.   Did Rapid Randy bend the frame in his Bird?   Looks a bit humped up in the middle?   I would like to see Randy go full Gasser on his Bird.  Fast enough to need a chute on the back.  LOL.
