fat50 Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Does anyone know where I can score some Mr. Color #68 "Red Madder" in the Detroit area? or a shade that is close? Thanks
935k3 Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 try looking up some conversion charts and find something that. Mr Hobby paints are hard to find in the US.

Thanks I love this color! Any chance you could use their aqueous (water-based) version? No it's not in Detroit, but Gunze paints are hard to find. A couple years ago I ordered a number of my favorites from a hobby store in Australia. https://www.rcjaz.com/mrhobby-gsih86-red-madder-gloss-10ml-gunze-aqueous-hobby-color-acrylic-paint-p-90066286.html Edited August 21, 2020 by Monty

Did you mean to say that scalehobbyist is in NEW England? As far as I know, they are in New Hampshire. At least everything I have ordered from them ships from New Hampshire.

Thanks The Model Cave in Ypsilanti carries the Mr. Color bottle paints. FYI, Tamiya TS 49 spray is, if not a dead match, so close you probably can't tell the difference.
Deuces ll Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 I've been there once... That place was packed with model kits.... Wish they did mail order..... ?

LHS need to grow up and realize this if they want to survive. It's not 1967 anymore. The best LHS we had closed a number of years ago because they were tired of running it. They had a "clearance" sale and I suggested they list their stuff on eBay. Got a deer in the headlights look. Found out that most of the family had never been on an airplane....
fat50 Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 (edited) Thanks Guys! I'll have to Shoot John an email and do a curbside pick up, he isn't open to the public yet, I rode out there last weekend and tugged on the door. I did pick up some MM "Chevrolet Engine Red" that looks close. I'll have to spray up some spoons with the MM, Tamiya, and the Mr. Color and take them out to the USCG station on Belle Isle and compare them to the 1:1 chopper. I'm building a Trumpeter HH-65A Dolphin Helicopter to get me over some automotive funk i've been in. Edit: and I Know plenty of people that have never been on a plane (whatever that was supposed to mean?) Edited August 24, 2020 by fat50

And the builders said it seemed to be a good match, too.
