gjorenby Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 I am airbrushing Future for the first time. Results are decent but got some debris in the finish. Recommendations on how best to buff it out? Thanks!
Snake45 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 I never had any luck polishing Future, which is one of the main reasons I don't use it. Wash it all off with household ammonia and try again--preferably this time with a product designed for that application.
Bills72sj Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 (edited) Use household ammonia and a Q-tip to completely remove all of it from the affected panel. MASK and shoot it again. Ammonia will not bother lacquer or enamel. (not sure about acrylics which is what Future is) Recoated the roof of my red Chevelle twice before it turned out ok. gjorenby Posted September 2, 2020 Author Posted September 2, 2020 My challenge is its on a Trans Am hood with the flaming chicken decal already applied so I'm not sure I want to strip it completely.
OldNYJim Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I’ve lightly buffed Future with a fine wet ‘n’ dry paper before and then re-coated to fix the issue you’re talking about. As long as it’s setup and hardened for a week or so it works ok for me...I just use a very fine grit paper and sand it like I would anything else. You’ll dull it in the process, but another coat fixes that. Like others have found, actually trying to buff and polish it like a regular clear doesn’t work, but you can level it out and have another shot at a nice smooth coat
