ChrisBcritter Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 OK, this stuff is well over $20-$30 for a 90mm x 200mm sheet, and it's been around since 2009; has anyone tried it and is it good enough (compared to BMF) to justify the price?
stitchdup Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 If it was as good as bmf I'm sure someone would have posted about it before now mate,
espo Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 At almost double the price it had better be good. Have you been able to look at it in person ? Have you been able to hold it up to the light next to any BMF ? How thin is it compared to BMF ? These are things I would want to do before I just went forward and bought this sight unseen. Could be better, but how else are going to know before you buy this instead of two sheets of BMF.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I wouldn't even consider it, regardless of how good it is, for that kind of price. BMF is fantastic stuff, and with twice as much product for half the price, I can see why nobody has heard of the Hasegawa stuff. Steve
Michael jones Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 (edited) I have seen some people using hasegawa products like this recently. I would say BMF would be quite expensive in Japan, so this is a local alternative for them. Even in the country I live in (New Zealand) BMF is quite expensive (approx. $17US) so if there was a local alternative that would make sense to buy. Edited October 11, 2020 by Michael jones

It's nothing like BMF, it's actually a self adhesive vinyl, I've used the matt black stuff, it's slightly stretchy, not a bad product.

I'll bet it's the same material as their "graduated window tint". An elastic vinyl film. If this is the case, one thing that I can tell you is that you better have the positioning right the first time. Once this stuff sticks, it's not coming off and still be usable. The window tint requires water to be applied to the surface prior to the material to aid in positioning. If this stuff is the same material, it's kind of a big PITA to use. Not even a close alternative to BMF. Steve

Yes, you have one go at getting it positioned correctly, it took me two attempts to get this fuel filler rubber gasket done using the matt black stuff
