Mike Stem Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 (edited) I was wondering if anyone here can help me. I have several SalvinoJR Petty model kits & the vermilion decal sheets. I was wondering if anyone here can tell me what Tamiya color & number matches theses decals. Thanks for the help. Edited October 29, 2020 by Mike Stem
64Comet404 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 The matches are either TS-36 Florescent Red, or PS-20 Florescent Red. The TS spray is a bit glossier, but the PS spray has better coverage. Either one should be sprayed over white primer for best results.
935k3 Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Do not go near TS36. It has known issue with cracking. It has cracked every time I used it even a test on a spoon.
NOBLNG Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 (edited) I believe Tamiya’s “PS” paint line is intended for the inside of clear polycarbonate RC car bodies. I’ve never tried it and don’t know how it behaves on styrene? Maybe someone on here has experience with it? Edited October 30, 2020 by NOBLNG
gman Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 I have a can I have yet to try- supposedly "hotter" than the regular TS lacquer spray, and matt finish. It was a cool pearlescent colour bot available in the TS line. You'll want to be careful with any masking, as the PS paint is designed to be flexible (which can cause it to string when unmasking tacky paint), and use over a good automotive lacquer primer. Test compatibility with clear coats- heck, test primer, colour and clear on spoons first.

Expand I have used PS-20 over Tamiya white primer, and is safe as long as you aren't laying on thick coats of paint. The more durable the primer, the better. Haven't had any issues while clearcoating with TS-13 clear.
