mr moto Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 The other boat kit offered by Round2 that comes from Lindberg tooling (and actually, Lindberg got it from Palmer) is the 1959 Century Coronado. It's not a very good kit but I picked one up not long ago and it seems it could made into something pretty good without too much extra work. The Coronado was a really flashy 50's style heavily chromed "dream boat" that was billed as the "Cadillac of boats". It's amazing they didn't sink from the weight of all that chrome. It was designed by mid-century modernist designer Richard Arbib. He was a really interesting guy. Probably worth your time to look him up. BTW, the kit comes with a poorly detailed V8 engine that looks something like a Chrysler hemi except that it only has six spark plugs! Most of the real boats actually were powered by Chrysler Firepower hemi marine conversions so there are lots of sources for a more correct replacement piece. Round2 has also released the AMT 3 in 1 boat kit that was first issued in 1959. Don't know if that's anything that you might be interested in but you could check it out and see. They're readily available.
tbill Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 That Coronado kit was so bad that after putting together a few of the parts, it got boxed back up and put on the shelf......., total disappointment....., even after knowing the origins and age ......, be quicker to scratch build one out of wood...., and probably look better.....

youpey Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) i have the lindberg ownes deluxe cruiser that i got really cheap on ebay. i havent built it yet, but it looks nice. https://www.amazon.com/Lindberg-Owens-Deluxe-Cruiser-Plastic/dp/B01N0SYVXP its not by round 2, but the revell kit from a while back named gone fishing, was a ramcharger and a boat. i did build that one, and it came out ok. however, i had one that was super warped also. this boat was released in a few different sets. the gone fishing seems to be the easiest and cheapest to find. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-7242-gone-fishing-set--947548 there was a thread on this site from last year with kits that had "add in" stuff, like the dirt bikes. i remember there was a couple of different boat kits from revell. there was a racing boat, i think with an f150, but i dont remember specifically,.
