Moebius F-100 wheel base change

Has anyone cut this down from the 131” wheelbase to the 114.8” wheelbase? It shouldn’t be to hard  I would think. I found a website with all the actual dimensions on it. Any tips or hints appreciated. Thanks.

If you intend to cut one down from the long (8' bed) wheelbase to the short (6-1/2') wheelbase, why not pick up one of the existing short versions?  You could either use its frame and pickup bed as templates, or just swap the parts.

I know that would be the easiest way, but if it’s just a matter of shortening the box in two spots and the frame, it shouldn’t be too difficult? I see Moebius makes one (1970) in 2wd short box. This would likely be the best donor I imagine if I decide to go that route?

Easy enough to do it yourself if you don't feel like buying a second kit.  I'm doing just that with a '78 Dodge pickup, in my case the short/wide bed was never included in any kit.  I'm undecided on whether to shorten the kit chassis, or just swipe one from a Little Red Express kit.

Another thought...maybe see if you can float a trade for the conversion parts (bed sides and floor, frame, driveshaft, exhaust system)?  Maybe, just maybe, someone out there bought a short bed kit and would prefer a long bed.

Moebius offered 5 different Ford Pickup kits with the shorter wheelbase. They are all readily available and would be much easier than shortening frames and beds. They are:

1965 Stepside

1966 Fleetside

1969 Fleetside

1970 Fleetside

1972 Fleetside

 

As Mark mentioned, maybe swapping parts or a kit would be the easier way to go.

Thanks for the offer Kris, but I have the urge lately to cut stuff up, and I kind of like the extra short box look.
