diesel turbos

I have seen several made from large thick Solder wire. However, almost ever truck kit has a turbo in it, so it would not be too hard to find some with junk kits on Ebay or from members here. 

Also, check Shapeways, they have 3D printed Turbos, as well as several Resin model parts sellers. 

You can scratch build one if you want, but there are so many options out there for pre-made ones, you would have to need something really strange not to be able to find one.

I made these as Scott describes by using two slightly different sizes of wire. The exhaust turbine will typically be slightly smaller than the compressor. I wrapped them around a nail and then cut sections to fit. The core is a piece of aluminum tubing for the compressor and a piece of sprue for the exhaust turbine, which just fits inside the aluminum tubing. Flanges are just sheet styrene.

A diesel turbo is not different from a turbo on a gasoline or alcohol engine...a turbo is a turbo so you can use whatever you find.
The difference can be the size but on modern diesel engines the turbo are quite small and insignificant even on trucks and machines like wheel loaders and excavators...most likely so they will spool up easier and quicker.

Exactly! I used regular turbos on my diesel rat rod.
