Old Nasty Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I'm about to use BMF for the first time & was wondering if you apply it before or after clearcote? Does it matter?
Bainford Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 (edited) It’s a matter of personal preference, it can go on either way. I find it looks better when applied after clear coat. Good luck. I hope it goes well. It can be frustrating until you get the hang of it. Some guys really dislike foiling, but it’s one of my favourite parts of the build. The model comes to life once the foil is on. Edited May 5, 2021 by Bainford
El Roberto Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I've found that a clear coat can dull the shine of the BMF. I apply the foil after clear coating.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I agree with the others. I've tried it both ways and have had more satisfactory results by applying after the clear coats. Steve
Bills72sj Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Not to be contrary for the sake of being contrary, I foil THEN clear coat. My goal is to have the foil STAY down and not come loose when handling the model. I have not noticed any loss of shine.
