Jon Haigwood Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 I am working on a project with my scrap pill parts. I am converting a 32 5 Window Cpe into a 5 window pickup. I just discovered I don't have a windshield frame for it. There are no markings that I can find but it is molded in black. I think it may be a AMT but not sure , help in identifying this would be appreciated also any tips on scratch building a frame . Thanks
Mark Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Looks like an AMT body to me. Besides the newer Revell 3W, the only other one I'm aware of is the MPC Switchers body. That one has a separate roof. A windshield frame could be made from a piece of sheet plastic...trace the opening, cut the part to fit, then cut the hole for the windshield leaving a frame. You'll have to work out windshield wiper detail though.
espo Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I would go with Mark's suggestion since the original kits windshield frame wasn't all that special anyway. Remember the original AMT '32 five window kit dates to the early '60's. This kit was as good as it gets at that time though.
Jon Haigwood Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 Thanks for the info and Big thanks to Muncie for the needed parts
Muncie Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 That's a neat project Jon - it's going to be pretty cool ride. I'm glad things worked out and we got some parts where they need to be.
