1959scudetto Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Here are some italian-made Politoys models from ca. 1970: Toys back then (everything opens, working steering), but a good base for improvement: aside from the de Tomaso Mangusta which is toolong and too flat, bodies have rather good proportions. Here are: Abarth 2000 SP (2 - ltr. sports prototype, 1968), Alfa Carabo (Bertone dream car, 1968) and de Tomaso Mangusta (model is of the 1966 prototype) and the 1966 OSI Scarabeo (Alfa Romeo):
kilrathy10 Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 These are very nice models, Man... Very nice... I especially like the Alfa...

I'd be happy to own any or all of them. I got them on ebay over the last few years, some very cheap: for example, I let pass an Abarth for € 20,00, because I already have 3 of them, I won a second Alfa Romeo (Bertone) Carabo for about 15 € only because of its missing windshield (I will replace this with a piece from orange or yellow tinted ski goggles). If you don't look for perfection, sometimes you can get some real bargains - and well, we are modelers, aren't we? The OSI Alfa Romeo 1600 is missing its windshield wiper - no problem at all ! You are right, JT - only the De Tomaso is a bit distorted, but have already found some perfect Fujimi wheels in 1/24 with wide rubber that fit like a glove and look like the real ones - sometimes those old diecasts offer opportunities for little money. It will be redone (don't like the yellow and black paint) - when it is finished, it will look similar to this one:

I will often have models of the same car in different scales in my collection and I didn't know a smaller scale model of my Scarabeo existed. Now to go looking for one.

Hi, Rich - here are some more pictures for you : OSI Alfa Romeo 1600 (Politoys 1/25): and then, I just have looked into ebay Italy - but those are rather expensive with shipping and customs/taxes, but I found also 2 sellers in the States: Look here (unfortunately cylinder head and wheel inserts left front and spare wheel are missing): https://www.ebay.it/itm/194141439882?hash=item2d33bb478a:g:XBUAAOSwZ4lgpXtz and the other - better - one: https://www.ebay.it/itm/164738660522?hash=item265b3078aa:g:WDsAAOSwfkNfLyYb it has even the often missing windshield wiper!
