I broke down and bought a couple of these from diecastmodelswholesale.com the other day... I'm not keen on the color choices they made, but they are very nice models, otherwise....Interestingly, they touted opening hoods and trunks, early on, but they do not...(At least at first glance) After careful examination, I discovered that they must have decided mid production not to make them that way, but it was too late to change the original molds, or something...So there is just a couple of plastic retaining strips keeping them from being opened... When I found this, I was like, "AWESOME!!!!" Can you say "Weekend project"??? And I've started already! I took the plastic retainers out and opened the blue one up....The hood and trunk, do indeed, open up... Already hinged, even.... BUT... They did not put any compartment detailing behind the engine, nor up front... Good thing I have a couple of 1/18 scale models around for reference....These have the potential to be awesome models....?

Very creative and a fantastic way to improve on them. There are so many diecasts out there with so much possibility, even entry level Motormax ones as well.

I live near the Gm proving grounds in Milford, Mi. The colors from Maisto are the same colors the C8 test cars with the manufacturer  plate running around here minus the black stripes. The other  2 engineering test cars I have seen are red and orange. Those colors are really noticeable on the road! A cop could spot you a mile away and not lose you in traffic if you are speeding !

That's pretty cool.... Must be something... I'd love to see one of these running at full tilt! Definitely not going to out run the radio with any of these colors... Although, there are a lot of these running around here in Houston... But, if you can afford one of these, then I guess you can afford the ticket... ?

I have these, too... The ONLY thing I don't like about these, are those dog leg doors... Maisto does a much better job with all the openings...

I think the intent of the closed hood and trunk are so another version can be made as a kit like some of the other Maisto cars and trucks.  I just picked up both of these colors today at Hobby Lobby, in addition to the Atlantis B-24J Liberator, MPC Schwinn Continental and AMT '70 Impala.

I can only assume you went when they had a 40% off sale on models... I'm curious... Were you able to purchase the Vettes at 40% off, as well... They won't at my local HL... Waiting on Walgreens and CVS, I guess...

only the kits were 40% off;  the Corvettes weren't on sale ($19.99 each), and I got the last 2

Maisto seems to have better quality than Motor Max, which also makes the diecast 2020 Corvette

Ok... At least I know they're consistent with the pricing....

I try to buy Maisto's stuff, mostly... Motormax and Jada with those dog leg doors really kill the overall presentation of their models... They look good, as long as you don't display them with the doors open...? Maisto is WAY better at the door thing, for sure.... That's why I bought them...
