Thanks and I kinda am too. The red original kit is staying as I built it +/-25 years ago, the 3 new issues will each have their own character and color scheme. I’m thinking that the one that will end up with the wheels from the ‘41 Plymouth kit will also end up finished more like a proper Fury, but in some form of Black vs Buckskin Beige. Still haven’t figured out what to do for the other two though.
Joe Handley Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 Did a little work on the Street Fury that is going to be painted black and gold after finishing clearing the interior pieces of the ZJ. Routed grooves into the hood and decklid so I can peak them. Only have the grooves done so far and will go back at it after dinner and use that Evergreen rod to make the peaks with. I also stripped the chrome off the grill portion so I can repaint it with a gold plate like paint then Moltow the chrome bits.
Joe Handley Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 Well, I’ll deal with the sanding tomorrow, but got the strips bonded to the car tonight! 2

Joe Handley Posted December 23, 2022 Author Posted December 23, 2022 Ok, on to the ‘58 Fury glue kit again, found a bunch of sink marks in the frame on the left side, filled them in with Bondic, sanded them down and used a Sharpie to lay down a guide coat to go by and it looks good enough for primer. I also filled in the frame rails that are exposed back where there doesn’t appear to be any filler panels between the rails and where the floor kicks up to the fire wall, using Bondic again there too. I do want to attach the suspension prior to painting like I did with the front of the ‘41, so the above filler was needed, though I do have a couple questions about lowering this. First is when it comes to the front, would it work ok if I just cut off the part of the spindle that the tie rods attach to and glue them back on lower so they better line up with the tie rod assembly? Second is on making lowering blocks for the back, should I file things square on the leaves and axle tubes then add some styrene in between to get the stance I want? I plan on lowering the front first so I have that as a reference for how low the rear needs to go. Thanks!
Joe Handley Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 Got more done on the glue kit’s suspension, need to grab my files from Dad’s work bench and start cutting the leaves and axle flat to locate the blocks.
Joe Handley Posted December 25, 2022 Author Posted December 25, 2022 I’ve about got the stance set now, just have the kit wheels and tires on it for the time being though, thinking about using the optional wheels and tires from another ‘41 Plymouth kit on this one eventually too.
Joe Handley Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 Found some Pegasus chrome reverse wheels to modify to fit, which was going to work great………… until the right side of the rear axle broke on me? Here’s how the rest of the lowering went though. 1
espo Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Just drill the two parts of the axle and insert a metal pin, like a paper clip or a staple, and glue the axle housing back together.

I have to look under the desk, I dropped the chunk that broke off last night to Another Quick Edit…….. Found it! Think I can use a chunk of mangled Hot Wheels axle to pin this like David suggested! Joe Handley Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 Got the rear axle drilled and pinned back together, going to give the CA time to cure before doing more with it. I also sanded down the part of the axle that the wheel will be CA’d to once completed, may need to do that with the other 3 as well, come to think of it.
Joe Handley Posted January 1, 2023 Author Posted January 1, 2023 Got portions of the glue kit in primer today if the weather holds out, I’ll be able to get the snapper Fury’s and Concords in primer too. No pics, but those are mounted up on posts and ready to spray.
Joe Handley Posted January 1, 2023 Author Posted January 1, 2023 Here’s a few pics of the glue kit Fury from after I brought it inside. It looks pretty good so far, but there were a few areas that I just couldn’t tell for sure that is usually more obvious when primer gets put down, or at least for me, even when primer grey styrene is used, much like AMT/ERTL used to do. The tops of the fins were an area of concern since I was using the Bondic resin as a filler along the edges of what should normally be Chrome trim caps to blend those into the fin tips. Those are areas where the primer over the surface or a foundation plastic color that is a better contrast against the clear resin does a better job of showing what I still needed to do vs white styrene as well as just sanding chrome trim off the sides.
Joe Handley Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 Laid down more primer, kinda crappy weather for it, but at least I know where I have to do more body work on these cars once the primer is dry.
Joe Handley Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 Haven’t been in the home office since going back to the office for work on Tuesday, so I went over what was needed on the glue kit Fury’s body and gave it ready for another layer or so of primer, wince the weather is good enough.
