How to repaint numbers ?

I have purchased this model Porsche . The listing says it’s made of resin. I want to repaint the numbers to “11” instead of 70.

I have never painted a model car. How can I do this ? Do I need to remove the numbers first ? What paint and chemicals should I use ?

Welcome to the forum.

That job may be a good candidate for a decal- you can buy white decal stock which works in a printer. Print the number "11" in the desired type and size on the decal paper, trim out a roundel and apply. Alternatively, you could buy a sheet of white roundel decals and apply individual 1 decals to it.

If it is resin, whatever you do DO NOT USE BRAKE FLUID to remove the paint. It does bad things to resin.

There are other safe ways to remove paint from resin parts.

There should be generic decal sets available with blank white roundels and seperate numbers.  These are links to some sets at Grand Prix Models in the UK. Very good shop to deal with.

Just put the new decals over the old ones.

Also, if you can get hold of the Monogram 1/43 289 Cobra kit (pop up on ebay and at shows quite often), the decals in it would work, too.

I was able to replace the numbers. Used a hairdryer to remove the originals so they didn’t show through and got the decals from Etsy. Thank you all for your help !
