I think I was a little hisitant about spraying it to thick but next time I'll lay the paint down. Get yourself some test spoons or something and find your run threshold on them rather than on the model, for your thinner type and ratio.. Put the last two coats on just below it. As I mentioned in another message you get a rhythm for this. 1
Zippi Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 Ok....Testors recommends letting the paint cure for 48 hrs. I waited 96 hrs. I did notice as I was polishing that the paint was coming off on the rag. I used my normal polishing products and it came out ok. I tried to take pics at various angles to show the finish. Like I mentioned, I think I need to lay down the last coat of paint pretty heavy. 1
Dave G. Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 (edited) Looks like a bit more rubbing on the hood and roof but it could be the lighting and camera too. Paint is not like clear you're gonna get some color on your polishing cloth. On one of your test shoots coming up try adding a little paint thinner into some lacquer thinner before thinning the paint, maybe 25-30% PT. Especially with the black you want to shoot. Looks good though thus far so that's just an option for ya down the road. Edited August 19, 2021 by Dave G.
bill-e-boy Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Bob that came out nice I have found that if you colour sand most enamels and acrylics that after the first sand let the model gas out for another day and it hardens further It is normal to see colour residue on your polishing cloth if you have not added a clear coat. You just don't see the clear on the polishing cloth 1
Zippi Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 Thanks fellows....good advise and I'll use it down the road.
