Kingslug Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 Each piston is the size of a whole 8cylinder 350 cubic inch motor. All that to make 300 hp.
Kingslug Posted September 18, 2021 Author Posted September 18, 2021 Well..big screwup..when the glue spilled all over the place i was trying to cement the barrels to the block..and last night saw i had 5 of them upside down..had to tear them apart to get the valve bodies off..so now i have to figure out how to make them..i guess styrene tube or rod..wish i had a lathe..going to add a lot more time..and i was already to start attaching things..
Kingslug Posted September 18, 2021 Author Posted September 18, 2021 (edited) Wow..just spent an hour trying to find tubing in these sizes..ended up with 14mm tube from an aquarium store and some 11mm from Amazon. Edited September 20, 2021 by Kingslug
jaymcminn Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Sorry to hear about the setback man. On the plus side, the tubing won't have sink marks to fill!
Kingslug Posted September 20, 2021 Author Posted September 20, 2021 True..you dont see much of the cylinders buried behind all the stuff though...maybe ill work on the wood parts
Kingslug Posted September 21, 2021 Author Posted September 21, 2021 (edited) Decided to finish painting some motor parts with the AK paste..comes out pretty good. Started on the dash by sanding all the marks off it..now trying to come up with toggle switches to replace the nubs. I could buy them but they cost a fortune when shipping is added. Going to try brass tube and some small nuts. My new phone takes better pics than my camera! Edited September 21, 2021 by Kingslug
Kingslug Posted September 21, 2021 Author Posted September 21, 2021 OY..further research shows the suspension directions are wrong. The rear suspension tension shocks are supposed to have the 3 springs on the bottom and the 2 on the top...I'm leaving it..too much to risk taking it apart. Italeri did not do all their homework..oh well
Kingslug Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 While waiting for the tubes to build the cylinders I botched up I figured I would use some of the PE bolt ends..all 60 of them..Then started on the dash. Used adhesive backed aluminum and made some rocker switches from wire, nuts and JB weld for the ends..
Kingslug Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 Just bought this book..should be good..
Kingslug Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 The tubes came in for the barrels..11 mm and 14 mm..cut cement together with epoxy..then i'll add some putty to blend them together..drill the holes paint..and hopefully they will look ok
Twokidsnosleep Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Excellent projects and indeed a monster of a car…bugger literally blows flames out the exhaust as it drives along, very funny YouTube video of that I will wish you good luck and follow along on your build so I might make mine easier when it comes Love the Ken Foran nook in brass work and absolute marvel in skills
Kingslug Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 There's a lot of mistakes in the directions so having actual pics is key..I printed every pic I could and read every build diary on it..there's a lot out there ..just have to find it. Sux that I discovered that the another suspension mistake was not in the directions and it was too late to correct unless I want to unbolt it. But have to move on.
